COVID-19

How long will our practice be closed?

Our practice is currently closed for routine appointments. During this time we will still be operating limited hours to see patients that have an orthodontic emergency. We are frequently assessing the advice of the government and health regulators and will reopen for all appointments/procedures as soon as possible. Our best estimateĀ  isĀ  that the disruption will be a few weeks upto 2-3 months. We will provide regular updates on our website and Facebook page as the situation evolves. Our team will still be available to assist patients during the closure period. We ask that you call or email our team for the fastest response.

Why does an orthodontist need to close?

Due to nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the sweeping recommendations of numerous health and government officials, we must close our doors to all elective procedures for the safety of our community. Elective procedures are defined as any procedure that does not involve treating a medical emergency to preserve life.

How should I proceed if I have braces or wearing a plate?

Please make sure you keep good oral hygiene by brushing two-three times a day and regular flossing. Also remember, DO NOT eat forbidden foods to avoid any breakage. If wearing any elastics continue to do so as directed. Your braces will continue to straighten your teeth all day and night. Proper elastic wear will continue to correct your bite. If wearing a plate that has an expansion screw, we recommend that you stop turning the screw unless directed otherwise. You will need to keep wearing your plate day and night.

What do I do if I have Invisalign?

Please make sure to keep wearing your active aligners as instructed to continue progressing your treatment. If you have got to the last aligner that we gave you at your last visit, please contact us and it should be possible to send you some more aligners if your treatment allows it. If you have got to the final aligner in your overall treatment, please continue wearing your aligners as it will maintain your current tooth position. Keep your aligners clean and avoid all drinks other than water while wearing them. When our office reopens for routine visits, we’ll see you as soon as possible. If you loose an aligner, please call our practice.

What do I do if my treatment was just about to start?

Please make sure you keep good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and regular flossing. We are excited for all our patients to take this big step, and look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible to get things started. We are hopeful that this delay will be short. Luckily a delay of a few weeks or months will have no impact on your treatment. When this situation has stabilized and we are permitted to reopen we are going be ready for you!

I have a review appointment coming up?

These appointments are very important, but by their nature have become elective at a time like this. We will maintain all appointment records within our computer system and will contact you to reschedule all deferred review appointments when the community situation returns to normal.
